Building Bridges for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth

Product Partnerships

The ERP landscape offers multiple options. Solution fitment largely depends on the Industry and size of the business. SAP is more suitable for a large industrial enterprise, whereas a mid-size company may opt for Business Central. D365 F&O is better suited for a mid-size to large FMCG business.

sap online bussiness

SAP, a pioneering and one of the largest global ERP software companies, was founded in 1972 by five former employees of IBM. As a global leader in enterprise applications and business AI, SAP stands at the nexus of business and technology. For over 50 years, organizations have trusted SAP to bring out their best by uniting business-critical operations spanning finance, procurement, HR, supply chain, and customer experience.

Microsoft

Microsoft Dynamics ERP has been evolving since its introduction in 1998. In 2002, Microsoft acquired Axapta, now known as Dynamics 365 FNO, and Navision, Business Central. Dynamics 365 is a portfolio of intelligent business applications that delivers superior operational efficiency and breakthrough customer experiences, enabling businesses to become more agile and reduce complexity without increasing costs. Business Central provides various modules and customizable features, allowing companies to manage their finances, streamline operations, and optimize productivity.

Microsoft
Salesforce

Salesforce is among the world’s most trusted customer relationship management (CRM) platforms. It was founded in 1999 by former Oracle executive Marc Benioff, Parker Harris, Dave Moellenhoff, and Frank Dominguez as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company. This SaaS model allows marketing, sales, commerce, service, and IT teams to work remotely. Salesforce enables companies of any size or industry to bring digital transformation to their customers by leveraging automation. In 2000, they launched their first cloud-based and SaaS CRM platform.

In 2005, Fabien Pinckaers, the founder and current CEO of Odoo, began developing his first software product, which was initially called TinyERP. Three years later, the name was changed to OpenERP. By 2010, the company had over 100 employees and experienced substantial growth. In 2013, the company’s growth reached 1549% over five years, earning it the title of “the fastest-growing company in Belgium” from Deloitte. In 2014, the company rebranded as Odoo to move away from the term ERP. Odoo was listed among Europe’s top 5000 fastest-growing private companies that year.

Indian Business Family Transformation Journey

Since the economic liberalization of the 1990s, Indian family businesses have experienced significant growth. We have consistently partnered with our clients throughout this journey, working with key clients for over two decades and supporting their growth from small and medium businesses to mid to large-cap corporations. Family-run businesses have grown organically over 20-30 years, led by promoter families, with processes implicitly embedded in the habits of its people. However, as these organizations rapidly grow and expand into new markets and products, the implicit processes must be explicitly stated and encapsulated in an ERP and related business applications. To facilitate this transition and leverage our deep understanding of this process, we have created a policy process system audit framework by documenting business processes and aligning them with ERP best practices.

ERP Implementation

We are implementation partners of Microsoft and SAP for their ERP suite and undertake ERP implementation for Microsoft D365 F&O, Business Central, SAP S4/ HANA, and B1.

A typical ERP journey starts with selecting the right solution depending on the Industry and size of the organization. Mid to large organizations in the industrial manufacturing sector typically choose SAP as their core ERP. Small to mid-size manufacturing companies across different formats often opt for BC or SAP B1. Retail and omni-channel-oriented organizations in the small to medium category tend to select Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Business Central with LS Retail. FMCG companies usually choose between SAP and D365 F&O in the small to mid-range.

A new trend that has emerged globally is the “Hub and Spoke” model, where large multinational corporations already using SAP or Oracle are implementing Microsoft Dynamics for their smaller subsidiaries and joint ventures, particularly in the distribution and retail industries. Small to medium-sized service companies also tend to implement Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle’s range of ERPs. These are general trends, and there are always exceptions to these product choices.

We specialize in helping our clients choose the best-suited product from the Microsft ERP bucket, namely Business Central, D365 F&O, and SAP, namely SAP S4/HANA and B1.

ERP Implementation Approach

When implementing ERP in family-run businesses, a more agile approach is needed than in large enterprises, which typically follow a structured waterfall approach. We have developed a more suitable approach to manage ERP implementation effectively in fast-growing family businesses. This approach involves driving and managing three tracks of ERP implementation.

Activate Methodology

With the introduction of cloud ERP from Microsoft and SAP, the preferred approach is “Activate Methodology,” where elaborate ‘AS IS’ and ‘TO BE’ blueprinting is not done before configuring and demonstrating the product. Under this method, pre-configured processes are shown to customers, module champions, and core teams, and business blueprinting is done parallel to these workshops.

Surround Applications

Typically, organizations begin their digital transformation journey by implementing a small to mid-size ERP system. As they grow and refine their processes, they often expand to include CRM, HRMS portals, and apps to support their operations. When these organizations reach a certain size and level of maturity, they upgrade their core ERP system to SAP S/4HANA or D365. Our experience with different types and sizes of industries equips us to consult our customers and provide a Unified platform with a comprehensive CRM, HRMS, Portal, and Apps tailored to each client’s needs. These applications help automate business processes related to ERP by leveraging industry knowledge, business processes, accounting, technology, and organizational change management.

Custom Development

Products developed by Acxiom
In India, consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies heavily rely on distribution channels to reach end consumers. These organizations have successfully implemented and stabilized ERP systems within their operations. The next natural step is integrating primary, secondary, and tertiary distribution channels. While multiple third-party DMS products are available in India, we specialize in developing customized DMS solutions for clients in the pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and pesticide industries.

Education & Training

Acxiom has recently ventured into the education and training services industry, focusing on SAP and Microsoft technologies. As an SAP Education Partner, we offer training services for SAP S/4HANA in public and private cloud environments.

We also provide training for Microsoft Dynamics and Azure to meet the demand for skilled resources. We aim to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of trained SAP and Microsoft professionals by offering education services to working professionals and college graduates. By doing so, we aim to place them as resources in the Acxiom ecosystem and at client-based sites.
